NJ Transit Bike Aboard Program

TransOptions Train Station Bicycle Locker Rentals
TransOptions offers bicycle locker rentals at Chatham, Convent, Denville, Dover, Madison, Morris Plains, and Morristown train stations.
Bicycle Parking at NJ Transit Train Stations
Bicycle parking is available at most train stations in Morris County.
Planning and Education
Bike and Pedestrian Planning – NJTPA
The NJTPA promotes walking and biking in the region though planning and direct investments. It sponsors Walkable Community Workshops, funds infrastructure improvements, and conducts or supports planning projects.
Morris County Bicycle and Pedestrian Element
The Bicycle and Pedestrian Element of the Morris County Master Plan was adopted by the Morris County Planning Board in 1998. The plan identifies Morris County’s bicycle and pedestrian facilities by region and lists the resources available to people who bicycle and walk for recreation or commuting purposes.
NJ Bicycle & Pedestrian Resource Center
The New Jersey Bicycle and Pedestrian Resource Center provides assistance through research, education, and information sharing about best practices in bicycle and pedestrian policy and design. The Center is managed through the Voorhees Transportation Center at Rutgers University.
NJ Division of Highway Traffic Safety
The division promotes statewide traffic safety programs through education, engineering, and enforcement activities.
Operation Lifesaver’s network of certified volunteer speakers and trained instructors offer free rail safety education programs. The network speaks to school groups, driver education classes, community audiences, professional drivers, law enforcement officers, and emergency responders.
Safe Routes to School Program – TransOptions
NJDOT has partnered with TransOptions to administer the state’s Safe Routes to School Program. TransOptions offers this free education and encouragement program for students, school administrators, faculty, parents, and law enforcement to create safe and healthy environments for our children.
Walkable Community Workshops
Walkable Community Workshops are held to help identify measures that support and encourage pedestrian mobility, and reduce automobile dependence for local trips within a community.
Wharton Safe Routes to School Plan
The Wharton Safe Routes to School Plan aimed to reduce congestion resulting from school related traffic and promote healthier lifestyles and communities by enabling children to safely walk and bike to school.
